The PYRO-XL Ashing System is a highly efficient alternative to conventional muffle furnaces. Its extremely fast heating rate, the PYRO-XL can reach an ashing temperature of 800 °C in less than 45 minutes, reduces ashing times from hours to minutes.  This avoids the lengthy ramp up times typically associated with electrical resistance furnaces and dramatically reduces average power costs.

 

The PYRO is specifically designed for the rugged laboratory environment. Unlike other systems that contain thermally susceptible plastic components, the PYRO has a stainless steel chassis that eliminates equipment corrosion. A dedicated exhaust fan reduces fumes in the laboratory as well as analyst exposure. The PYRO’s door, also made of stainless steel, is lined using ceramic fibers ensuring it cannot be damaged – even at extreme temperatures. Four ‘microswitches’ in the chassis door ensures that microwave emissions are cut off whenever the door is not completely closed.

A microprocessor controlled, industrial grade magnetron delivers up to 1,200 Watt of microwave energy in the cavity. A rotating stirrer, located in the magnetron’s path, ensures an even distribution of microwave energy -  ± 5 °C at 900 °C. The muffle cavity can accommodate up to 12 crucibles (40 mm of diameter) and is constructed using a lightweight, microwave-transparent, ceramic material that allows for rapid heating and cooling. It has excellent insulating properties, superior to conventional ceramics, which ensures a cool, and comfortable laboratory environment.

 

The ashing of high volumes of matrices that generate a high quantity of fumes, have been challenging. The fumes often condense as they come in contact with colder parts of the instrument which results in hard layers of residue forming; this in turn can affect the operation and lifetime of the instrument itself. To specifically address this challenge, Milestone has developed the PYRO-XL. The PYRO-XL allows the analyst to process multiple crucibles, containing a combined total of up to 100 grams of sample, simultaneously.

 

The PYRO-XL Ashing System offers you the fastest, cleanest, most versatile way to ash a large volume, high fuming samples.
