90-8480-45 Fieldner Volatile Matter Furnace, 120V
Fieldner Furnace for the Determination of Volatile Matter in Coal and Coke
The furnace is used for the determination of volatile matter in coal and coke by ASTM methods. The furnace is equipped with a chromel wire basket which supports a crucible containing the coal sample in the furnace and which is always positioned at the same depth in the furnace to duplicate the conditions of volatilization.
The heating chamber is 1-1/2" in diameter and 6" deep and consistes of a refractory cylinder on which the heating element wire is cemented. A thermocouple may be inserted through a hole in the bottom of the furnace so that it touches the bottom of the crucible, permitting accurate temperature measurement during the test.
Overall dimensions are 5-5/8" in diameter and 12-5/8" in height. Power consumption at full load is approximately 360 watts. A furnace controller is required for proper control of operating temperatures.
